Oh I watched Ergo Proxy.

See. When I try to argue about the artistic merit of anime, I run into shit like Ergo Proxy, which may have artistic merit to
somebody, but mostly just doesn't make any goddamn sense. So I'm left wondering, is it better to create media in that vein, which is vague and pretentious and plays with interesting ideas but leaves you at the end with nothing, or is better to simplify stories into Hollywood fare that beats you in the face with everything? Or maybe that's a stupid question, since they're both governed by marketing strategies.
Listening to people bitch about Avatar made me realize something. There's no such thing as a "good" movie that does everything right. Obviously, right? There are only movies that have bits and pieces that I enjoy, and someone else probably won't enjoy. I love Terminator Salvation which is certainly not a good movie, but I liked it and watched it multiple times and own it.
I dunno I'm not up to a major critique here. 8) I'll exercise my right as a net citizen to collectively ignore everything I don't like or don't agree with.
